In view of the dynamic growth and demand for professionals in the hospitality and tourism industry, the Ministry of Higher Education has exclusively extended an invitation on 2nd April 2007 to Berjaya Group to establish a niche university college for hospitality to be known as BERJAYA University College of Hospitality (BERJAYA UCH).
BERJAYA UCH received its license to operate as a institution of higher learning on 14th November 2008, and is a premier university college offering programmes related to hospitality, tourism and services management from foundation to postgraduate levels. These programmes are offered under four (4) Schools, which are the School of Culinary Arts, School of Hospitality Management, School of Tourism, Arts and Culture Management, and School of Business Management. Foundation studies are offered to post secondary school leavers as an entry qualifier to the undergraduate programmes.
BERJAYA UCH's cosmopolitan city campus is situated within the golden triangle in Berjaya Times Square. Students will benefit from the integrated learning experience gained from the hospitality, tourism and service-related businesses within and surrounding the city campus. The city campus, totaling approximately 100,000 square feet, is located on the 11th (West Wing) consisting mainly the administrative offices and learning areas; and 14th (East Wing) comprises the culinary and restaurant facilities for the School of Culinary Arts.
BERJAYA UCH encompasses the hardware of complete infrastructure with state-of-the-art facilities which include high-tech lecture theatres, classrooms and seminar rooms, conference room, learning and resource centre, housekeeping suite, travel bureau, dedicated computer laboratories with the latest software, fully equipped preparation, production and pastry kitchens, bakery, culinary studio, culinary theatre, show kitchen, fine dining restaurant, café, culinary museum, coffee and tea academy, oenology laboratory and chocolate and sugar artistry laboratory among others.
Students immerse themselves in the demands and challenges of the hospitality, tourism and services industry through our 'outside-in' approach known as the BERJAYA Immersion Methodology; which involves the provision of a learning environment that involves experiential learning, internships, field trips, and practical sessions among others.
To allow our students a wider scope of 'internationalised' programmes and an opportunity to enjoy global learning experience, BERJAYA UCH will also articulate with foreign institutions of higher learning to allow students to transfer credits overseas to further their studies or for work placement opportunities.
