Faculties and Programmes
Nilai University has five faculties which together house 11 departments. The five faculties are the Faculty of Business, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Technology. The Centre for Postgraduate Studies offers a variety of taught and research programmes for which it collaborates with the Centre for Research Excellence. The Centre for Foundation Studies offers two foundation level programmes that permit progression to all the degree programmes offered at the university. The University has approval to run 2 foundation, 17 diploma and advanced diploma, 22 degree, 5 master’s and 2 PhD programmes.
To give students a solid foundation in the core fields, Nilai University’s programmes are designed with input from advisory panels comprising industry partners and academic experts. All diploma and degree programmes include an internship or on-the-job-training module that allows students to gain hands-on experience during their studies. This gives them a comparative advantage to graduates from other institutions.
Embedded into the programmes are opportunities for students to earn added certifications from various professional bodies and organisations. Nilai University has also designed certain programmes with professional examinations in mind including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants(ACCA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) licensing examinations.
Nilai University’s motto is ‘Enrichment for Life’. To achieve this, a number of electives have been introduced to help broaden student perspectives. These include the renowned Dale Carnegie Skills for Success, Outward Bound, Personal Branding by Chapter One Asia and even a module on Theatre and Acting. Students are also given an opportunity to learn through activities via the co-curriculum module which is aimed to develop students both personally and professionally.
