How did you know this study field is for you?

As an observant person, I enjoy finding the “whys”, “hows” and “whats” of the environment around me, especially in terms of human interaction. I wish to utilise what I have learned from the Psychology degree programme to make an impact on society by providing
more useful and beneficial resources to raise awareness in the mental health field.

How did the COVID-19 pandemic affect you and your studies?

I was having a hard time absorbing what I have learned online due to the distractions around me. However, as time progresses, it slowly came to my realisation that getting a constant update from lecturers as well as friends is vital to help me survive in this stressful
situation. Also, time management is the key to success during this tough time.

What new teaching methods were introduced by your institution as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic?

HELP University had introduced pre-recorded slides and online live classes via Zoom and Microsoft Teams to accommodate to the new norm. Also, online consultation hours are made available by the lecturers so that students can drop by during the session to clarify any doubts regarding assignments or lecture contents.

What encouraged you to continue with your studies despite the COVID-19 pandemic?

My initial determination and passion for psychology. Although it is tough to endure such circumstances, as long as I hold on to that initial passion I have towards psychology and constantly remind myself of the reasons as to why I took up this challenge, everything will eventually seem worthwhile after all.

What are your plans after graduating?

Upon graduating with my degree, I wish to venture into the field of child psychology. I aim to devote my attention to assess, research and assist the special needs children population. After several years of experience in the relevant field, I will continue to pursue my studies in the Master of Clinical Psychology programme so that to
boost my qualification.
