How did you decide on your course?
I was passionate about cooking from a young age and truly delighted when something I cooked appeals to those whom I serve. Le Cordon Bleu has always been at the back of my mind when I started having a serious interest in professional culinary arts. I chose the Diplôme in Cuisine to learn classic French techniques which are extremely important foundation for chefs who want to
perfect their culinary skills.
How was your institution affected by the COVID-19 pandemic?
Le Cordon Bleu’s courses are very practical-oriented, so many of our classes were rescheduled when the October lockdown was announced. Now, we are being taught theory classes and live demos through Microsoft Teams. The chefs are very supportive and always encourage us to continue cooking at home to practice.
How did you manage to study for your diploma program despite the COVID-19 pandemic?
The most helpful thing I found was to have a change of environment. I can barely get things done staying in my dorm all day, so I try to be in a conducive setting when I’m studying. Being in a library or reading room just gets me in the zone to finish my tasks. The Internet is the biggest source of information out there, and being more of a visual learner, I find that I can efficiently absorb material from YouTube videos. I take notes while watching these videos as well so I can remember the material long-term.
What made you decide to continue your diploma program studies during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Honestly, I thought it was over and I could start my course like normal. However, this isn’t my first time going through a pandemic during my studies, so I just decided to go ahead with it instead of wasting time at home.
