What is it?

Environmental issues plague the world in which we live. In the course, you will be faced with challenging questions and ideas about the way humans are affecting the health of the Earth. You will find yourself faced with many grey areas and given the knowledge to find solutions to these problems.

What will you study?

The course brings together scientific knowledge from scientific disciplines and applies it to issues and questions relating to the growing human population, sustainability of natural resources, effects of pollution and endangerment of natural systems. 

There are four main areas of fieldwork and research:

  • Environmental protection, focusing on the quality of air, water, and land
  • Conservation and protection of natural resources, which deals with resource-based industries such as mining and forestry
  • Environmental education and communications in the public and private sectors
  • Environmental research, which targets problems of modern lifestyle, such as noise pollution and poor sanitation.

Typical course duration

A degree in this subject takes at least three years to complete.
